  1. Nish Media is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified by applying to the "Hit The Ice Virtual Tryout", and then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.
  2. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
  3. In turn, you agree to submit true and verifiable personal information, which are up to date and current. If for any reason, Nish Media feels that the information may be faulty or incomplete, it reserves the right to refuse the application.

VIRTUAL TRYOUT

  1. To enter and to be eligible for the Virtual Tryout, the entrant must be a legal resident of Canada, including Quebec. The promotion is not open to residents in all other countries and where prohibited or restricted by law, regulation, rule or otherwise. This promotion is subject to all applicable state, federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. One entry per individual is allowed.
  2. To be eligible, entrants must be a girl of Indigenous ancestry and aged 15 to 18 years old. Nish may require the entrant to show legitimate proof of the participant's ancestry.
  3. To be eligible and partake in the "Hit The Ice Virtual Tryout" you must fully and accurately complete this registration form, as found on www.hittheice.tv or download the form and proceed on printing it and sending it with a video before the closing date of May 28, 2018:

  4. The "Hit The Ice Virtual Tryout" the "Virtual Tryout" runs from 12.00.01 a.m. (ET) on April 30th, 2018 to 11:59.59 p.m. (ET) on May 28, 2018, the Virtual Tryout Closing Date, (inclusively, the "Virtual Tryout Period"). Nish Media has the unrestricted right to end promotion at an earlier or later date at its sole discretion.
  5. In choosing to participate in this Virtual Tryout you fully acknowledge and accept Nish Media’s right to change the Virtual Tryout Closing Date and these terms and conditions without reservation.

SELECTED PARTICIPANTS

  1. Nish Media has established a judge’s panel, which will evaluate the entries and select up to as many or as little players as it deems necessary.
  2. If the selected entrants cannot be contacted by phone or by email (or fails to respond to email messages) provided at the time of entry within five (5) business days from the time of initial contact, she will be disqualified from the Virtual Tryout and forfeit her chance to appear on the show. The Virtual Tryout judges may, at their sole and absolute discretion, select another eligible entrant whom the Virtual Tryout judges shall attempt to contact, and who shall in turn be subject to disqualification. Upon receipt, all entries become the property of Nish Media.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

  1. Limit is one entry per individual. Multiple enrolments to the Virtual Tryout will result in the disqualification of all entries from said individual. Nish Media is not responsible for any telephone, technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware or software failures, malfunctions, or disconnects of any kind, or misdirected, illegible, incomplete, stolen or garbled, fragmented, or delayed Internet/email computer transmissions or network/ISP/website/or Internet accessibility; or for lost, late, damaged, delayed, destroyed, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or postage due entries submitted via regular mail.
  2. Nish Media reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of this Virtual Tryout or website; to be in violation of the terms of service of the website, to be acting in violation of these Official Rules; or to be acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any use of robotic, automatic, macro, programmed or like entry methods will void all such entries by such methods.
  3. Employees and contractors of Nish Media, its subsidiaries, affiliates, and/or related companies, and their respective agents; the independent judging organization, and the advertising, promotional and media agencies; and the employees and the immediate families of all of the aforementioned or persons with whom they are domiciled are not eligible to enter this Virtual Tryout.

What is the « Hit The Ice »?

Hit The Ice is a multiplatform project which consists of a television show and a website which will see the top twenty female indigenous players, aged 15 to 18 years old, experience the rigors of a professional training camp. Throughout the camp, these prospects will be put to the test and they will gain valuable experience as they get ready for their on ice audition which will be help at the Beantown Classic in Boston.

Under the tutelage of Lisa Haley and help from hockey pros, the young prospects will get a taste of what it truly takes to take their game to the next level.

Why should I sign up and take part in the « Virtual Tryout »?

First off, it’s a first step in possibly being one of the prospects on the television show. This could be your chance at possibly playing at the next level in the near future.

What is the target audience for « Hit The Ice »?

In large, Hit The Ice will appeal to anyone that has an interest in hockey, no matter what level or age.

Who has made « Hit The Ice » possible?

Hit The Ice has been made possible thanks to the financial contributions from two main partners, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and the Canadian Media Fund.

How old must I be if I want to be one of the players on the show?

Most of our players are 17 and 18 years old with a few exceptions being 15-year-old.

I'm ready and I think I want to sign up for « Hit The Ice - The Series ». How do I register?

First off, click on the BE A PART OF SEASON 7 button on Hit The Ice website. Take your time and read all of the stipulations and make sure you are eligible to sign up. The next step is to fill the registration form and make sure to fill everything out. Your parents or guardian need to approve the registration. Also, with the form you will need to put together a short video, which will let us know how good you are and why you should be on the show. Your video should be shorter than 4 minutes and make sure that it is less than 10 Meg in size because you will need to upload it. You can also send us the full package by mail to:

Does it cost something to be on « Hit The Ice – The Series »?

All selected players will not have to pay for any of the accommodations, travel or food. Players should only take into account their own spending money.

The series

Where and when will « Hit The Ice - The Series » be taped?

For the 2018 camp, all of the taping will be done in North Bay area and will take place in July 2018.

When will I know if I've been chosen to be on the show?

Players selected to take part in the show via the virtual tryout will be contacted by phone approximately one month before the taping of the show. Chosen applicants will be made aware of the selections the latest in early June.

What types of activities will take place during the camp?

In order to provide our prospects with an authentic experience, the camp has been designed to mirror other professional hockey camps. Participants will take part in on-ice and off-ice training session that will develop all of their skill sets. In addition, players will meet different professional from the hockey world and partake in team building activities.

Will their be any elite pros on « Hit The Ice – The series »?

Lisa Haley, will lead the camp. And different players and other hockey professionals will be present.

How are the participants selected for «Hit The Ice – The Series»?

Our selection committee will view the videos and the references listed by the players will be contacted to verify that the candidate’s skill set does match the desired level of play.

When will the show be broadcasted?

The series Hit The Ice 6 is currently on air and the seventh instalment should air in 2019.

Logistical

Will an adult supervise the players at all times?

The group of players will be accompanied by full-time chaperones for the duration of the camp.

Will there be medical staff on site to ensure players safety?

During the full duration of the training camp, medical staff will be available to all Hit The Ice participants. The player chaperones are also CPR and First-Aid accredited.

Can parents or guardians accompany participants?

Players can be accompanied, however the players are required to remain with the team at all times and take part in all activities. Families can watch certain practices and certain team activities but this remains at the discretion of the production team and coaching staff. Please note that all costs incurred by people accompanying a participant will be covered by their own means. Hit The Ice will not cover any costs for anyone other than the selected participants.
