A former NHL player with an illustrious post-ice coaching career, Gerard Gallant was recruited by Steve Yzerman to act as assistant coach for Team Canada during the 2007 World Men’s Hockey Championships, where Canada took gold. He was assistant coach for the New York Islanders in 2007 to 2009, and assistant head coach for the Montreal Canadiens in 2012. Two years ago, Gallant was named head coach of the Florida Panthers. In his first season, he led the Panthers to a record of 38 wins, 29 losses, 5 OT losses, and 10 shoot-out losses for 91 points. The following year, he led the upstart Panthers to a 24-12-4 record at the All-Star break, earning him a spot as the head coach for the Atlantic Division All-Stars.
